On the bay, the question isn't whether a hurricane will come, but when. A hurricane shutter lowers over the opening and seals it with a double-wall aluminum profile: no more plywood sheets screwed in every season.
We use an extruded aluminum system with safety end caps that keep the curtain from coming out of the guides in extreme winds: it withstands gusts of up to 250 km/h, equivalent to a Category 5 hurricane. The product is approved under the Florida Building Code and by Miami-Dade County, the strictest standard for hurricane zones.
The rest of the year it keeps working: it blocks direct sun completely, acts as total blackout in bedrooms, reduces street noise and adds a real layer of security on ground floors and in businesses.
